Faux Leather

The crab has been painted with chalk and blender pen.

The cracked effect on the card stock was achieved with
a lovely back ground stamp "Weathered" from Stamp'n Up.
Patterned paper by Kaiser,
Card stock  -' close to cocoa' , 'chocolate chip',  by Stamp'n Up.
I am also entering this into the try something new challenge at Crafty Creations.http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
I have been experimenting with a few different techniques , after all I am on holidays, and what better way to chill out than to get a little creative with my paper supplies.I can't exactly remember where on the net I read about making paper look like leather, but I did remember the method and thought I would give it a go.

Sunflower Card

I recently found a great tutorial on how to make sunflowers at http://h2designs.blogspot.com/2011/11/3d-sunflower-tutorial.html and thought I would give this card a try.I was really happy with the end result and it was very quick and easy to make.

2. Monthly Stamp Club - January

Patterned papers by Bella -  mat stack "French Chateau".
Card Stock - Black and River Rock from "Stamp'n Up".
Stamps - "Loads of Love" by Stamp'n Up.
Corners punched using a corner punch from Carl.

Water coloring with ink gives great dimensions to the stamped images.

Edges daubed around with ink to define images.

My botched attempt at the #147 Sketch

Not happy with this one - it's a bit boring - so I went back and tried something else.

This is for a 50th Birthday.
I like this one well enough, but it is supposed to have 4 elements
down the side, and I could only fit 3 in - so I didn't enter it into the challenge.

Glitter Bird

Had a little play with glitter and heat sticking powder this afternoon.
First I stamped and image with versa mark, then applied the
sticking powder to the versa marked image, heated it with my
heat gun and applied the glitter - it's much prettier than the photo shows.
Heart paper by Kaiser, ribbon from 'Spotlight' and other papers from Stampin' Up.

Playing with my Grandaughter

My Grandaughter is four and loves to card make and draw. This afternoon she came for a visit and Grandma showed her how to emboss - Grandma was incharge of the heat gun and Maddy had the fun (That's her words not mine. lol).Grandma also tied the bow on.She stuck the picture to the card and she did a great job of lining it up. Grandma is very proud of her. It's a great Card!!

More embossing by Maddy.

Card Patterns Sketch #147 and Crafty Creations "Heat embossing" Challenge

This is my 3rd attempt at using this sketch - I seem to have really struggled with this one.
I have used white and black embossing powders over the stamps, beautiful Kaiser embossed paper, Stampin' Up stamp set 'Like it a Latte' , cream and black card stock, and some ribbon from  'Chickenfeed'. The finished card looks much nicer than the photo suggests.

I am entering this card into  the following challenges

The Unstampabelles - Challenge #7 - Anything Goes (No Stamps)

My Card for the Unstampabelles Challenge #7. The sentiment is a sticker.
This was very different for me, as I usually use stamps - It felt really odd and I had to think a lot more about the card.
